Ivy and Michael have quite a story. Ivy is from Delaware, Michael is from Australia and has lived in Ethiopia and London. They met in England, where they both currently live and work. After their engagement, they decided to get married in Ivy’s hometown. Family and friends flew in from literally all over the world to celebrate with them! It was so special to keep meeting people throughout the day that were spending the weekend with these two. So many sweet hugs and laughter.
I could immediately tell that Ivy has a heart to serve. She was making drinks and taking care of people all morning. Everyone kept telling her to sit, but she was like a happy hummingbird going around seeing her friends and family! The whole family pitched in to help set up the wedding and bake the desserts. One of my favorite moments of the day was right after Ivy got dressed and she hadn’t even seen herself all done up yet. I took a portrait of her by the window and showed it to her on the back of my camera. She immediately burst into tears seeing herself as a beautiful bride! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room, including mine!
Their ceremony was in the middle of a meadow, a small space carved out of tall grasses swaying in the warm summer breeze. The sun was shining and the tears flowing. At the end of the night, they said it was a dream come true. It was a joy to capture!
