There are a million reasons why we loved photographing Rachel and Anthony’s wedding. They were so laid back and fun, they kept telling us how excited they were to have us there, the whole day was really casual and they were SO excited to be getting married! They also kept reminding their wedding party and guests not to pose or look at the camera because they know we prefer shooting real, genuine moments. They never gave us any direction or requested any photos. They just totally trusted our documentary style to tell their story. They didn’t even want many formal family portraits! Rachel told me she cared more about candid photos of her with her mom then a photo of them just looking at the camera and smiling. Literally music to our ears. They were open, warm and let us into their lives. It felt like we were all old friends!
Rachel spent the morning getting ready with their sweet daughter. Then we all met up for the ceremony and reception at the Cove Hyatt Place in Dewey Beach, Delaware. The waterfront location is gorgeous. Plus it was a cool night and the venue opened all the windows and large glass doors to let the salty sea air blow through. As they said their vows by the bay, Anthony touched Rachel’s cheek as tears rolled down her face and their daughter was at their feet. I know it is a moment they will never forget.
After the ceremony, they went right into their first dance and cocktail hour on the deck. They spent the whole night with their guests and everyone had the best time. At one point, all the groomsmen pulled me on the dance floor and took over my camera. It was hilarious! (you’ll see the photo in this post!)
I don’t think I’ve adequately described how much we loved sharing this day. Michael and I both agree we wish we could shoot their wedding over and over again. We know they have a beautiful, fun life ahead of them!
